Improving School Water Systems Together: Sam Sob, Mae Na Chon, Na Klang, Na Klan Huay Puk Kood
Students and lead teachers from the four participating schools in the STEM: Inspiring Dreams, Building the Future Project, supported by M4U, in Mae Chaem District, Chiang Mai Province, jointly carried out surveys of water sources, school water supply systems, and drinking water service points within their schools. The surveys aimed to assess existing conditions, identify challenges, and evaluate the adequacy of the current water supply. Based on the findings, each school collaboratively developed a plan to improve and upgrade its water system in accordance with its specific context and needs.
This initiative aims to enhance the efficiency and reliability of school water supply systems, ensuring an adequate supply of clean water for students, teachers, and school staff while creating a healthy environment that supports quality teaching and learning. The project also promotes the active participation of lead teachers, students, and community members in surveying, analyzing, planning, designing, and improving school water systems. Throughout the process, participants apply the principles of STEM Education to strengthen critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and sustainable water resource management skills.
At present, all four schools have completed their water system development plans and are implementing the planned improvements. The activities are expected to be completed by July 2026. Once finalized, the upgraded water systems will provide a more reliable and sufficient water supply for each school while serving as practical learning resources that support hands-on education in water conservation and sustainable water resource management through the STEM Education approach.
